Sentences: The Life of M.F. Grimm

This is probably the fist post on the comic-book medium I think and what better way to start than with this cult hip-hop culture inspired graphic novel written by famed underground MC and producer MF Grimm. Here he uses his real name as his pen-name: Percy Carey. The graphic novel follows different moments in Grimm's life: from his rise to fame on the New York MC Battle circuit in the late 80's, his encounters with legendary figures such as Suge Knight and 2Pac to his bust on charge of drug-dealing while he was producing MF Doom's 1997 classic Operation Doomsday. With great graphics from Ron WImberley, this book delivers realism, compelling storytelling and a behind-the-scenes look at hiphop culture that,I'm sorry to say, no film or self-indulgent half-assed rapper autobiography has managed to before.
