Brian Donnelly's (KAWS) first solo museum exhibition opened on June 27 at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Gracefully infusing commercial pop culture with ludicrous street art, it is easy to see from his sketches and paintings to his figurines and poster modifications that KAWS has an uncanny talent for adding his signature touch to well established trademarks. Bright colors, comforting contours, cartoon-esque depictions - the art is both whimsical yet provocative; exploring iconic conceptions, but also raising questions about the extent to which commercialism has taken over our world.

The Donauinselfest opens tomorrow. The festival is Europe's largest, spans for three days and is absolutely free. One of the performers this weekend will be The Very Best who are performing at 20:30 on the FM4 stage. The Very Best is comprised of British producer/DJ Radioclit and Malawian furniture seller Esau Mwamwaya. The two gained critical acclaim in 2008 when they released Radio Clit and Esau Mwamwaya Are The Very Best, a free download album that used samples of popular songs ranging from Vampire Weekend's Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa and M.I.A.'s Paper Planes. They released their debut album Warm Heart of Africa in 2009.

Andrew B. Myers' use of soft tones and negative space make his photographs seem like paintings on first glance. It is however his ability to fuse together the feel of analogue photography with digital techniques to come up with his distinct look and style.

The Madlib Medicine Show series is a combination of Madlib's new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat tapes, and jazz, as well as mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music from the Beat Konducta's 4-ton stack of vinyl. This is his sixth installment. What to expect? Global psychedelia, asian funk, prog. rock, conspiracy theories, paranoia, and rabbits fucking in the forest.
Digging Through My Archives Vol. 1 - Is a selection of my favorite tracks from my extensive music archive. With each release I plan on taking you on a musical journey to experience the best music each genre has to offer. With this release I take you into the world of hip-hop, funk and soul which is heavily inspired by samples used by modern hip-hop artists, cover songs by funk revival bands and a small taste of what the mash-up genre has to offer.
Also, much love to our first 100 followers on Facebook! Follow us.

An amazing rendition of Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness performed by folk rock singer Lissie. Plus points for swigging tequila straight out of the bottle before the performance.
The world champion free diver Guillaume Nery dives into Dean's Blue Hole, the deepest blue hole in the world which is filmed entirely on breath by Julie Gautier. Breathtaking stuff.
Tennis- civic halo
Four live tracks from the Berkley indie band The Morning Benders that will get you through this lazy Sunday. These guys really got my attention with their video for Excuses where they have over 50 people in the Studio performing with them.
Thanks to Alex Seder for upping this.

Blu's Mural at the Famefestival. in Grottaglie, Italy. Like most of his works this one touches on one of the problems of the place. It is pretty obvious what problems the locals are facing in Grottaglie.
Liesl Pfeffer takes dreamy photographs using toy cameras and turns them into these awesome collages. Simplicity at its best. Take a look at some more goodies in her portfolio.

Trailers for Enter The Void with soundtrack from Thomas Bangalter
This the new film from Gaspar Noe (Irreversible) who is one of those directors who has to carry the labels controversial and risky due to his artistic vision on how to portray sex and violence (basically his last film had a 10 minutes rape scene). His new film looks technically amazing and gives signs that he is not aiming to go Disney anytime soon. Score is assured by Daft Punk's musical mastermind Thomas Bangalter. Daft Punk are also scoring the new Tron film due for release this winter.

Teaser for David Fincher's The Social Network
The days of joking around about making Facebook the film are over. Like really over. Because it seems to be ready. Well it has a teaser with dialogue mentioning the name Mark Zuckerberg and showing Jessy Eisenberg's (Zombieland) face at the end. At the helm of the film is none other than David Fincher (7even, Fight Club, Zodiac) so while everybody is saying that a website is the least cinematic thing you can film I'm sure it's in good hands. Press Like.

Not To Miss At The Donauinselfest: The Very Best

Is You Rollin?
Probably one of the finest videos from the "Мишка Presents Kill With Video" collection
Roy Andersson
Roy Andersson is one of the most original film-makers around. His films are often labelled as surrealist, absurd or even black comedies. Best way to describe him is that he does snapshots from society. The camera doesn't move during a scene and his scenes look like slowly paced moving image postcards from degradation and depression. Enough with the critical crap, watch clips from You The Living and Songs From The Second Floor and become a fan or else you'll end up like the girl in the first clip.
Bunnies With Machine Guns
Seen me many unusual combinations with a machine gun. Japanese schoolgirl with a machine gun (Machine Girl), bad-ass Mexican hit-man with a machine gun strapped to his motorbike (Rodriguez's upcoming Machete), stripper with a machine gun for a leg (Planet Terror, funnily enough by Rodriguez. He must have a fetish for it). But machine wielding soldier of fortune bunnies is something new to me. Trailer for Cat Shit One: Apocalypse Meow, adaptation of a manga by Kotofumi Kobayashi.
Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers
First blog post from me so let's have a piece of cinematic nonsense from the Scandinavian. Short film with a few of Sweden's respectable actors breaking into somebody's house and using household appliances as musical instruments . Clandestine music-making?. Weirdest thing though is that they've just screened a feature-film version of this at Cannes.

The Roots - How I Got Over
The Roots just released their 9th studio album: How I Got Over. I must say I was suprised when I was listening to it, I enjoyed it more then I thought I would- I really enjoyed it. It's pretty much a mix of Hip-Hop,Soul, Funk, Jazz and Rock and it all comes together perfectly. Would suggest everyone to give it a listen, it's really worth it. Some pretty nice features as well like Blu,Phonte, John Legend etc. This album will definitely be up in the top somewhere for my favorite album of 2010.
Get it before they take it down.

RETCON

"RETCON continues the recitation of the future that GOUSEION brings,
the ghost doctor of the virtual realm, able to calm and cajole the spirits in the 0/1, code tattoos, silicon veve, smoke incensing from the broken case, the break out is complete, the machines are freed." -Run Riot
I found about this way too late. Anyways Gouseion released a new LP called Retcon, and its a definite must download.
