Love for Those Hustlers

Another free album for this week. Splatinum released a free album called "Love for Those Hustlers".
The “hip hop obsessed” Seattle duo has been getting freaky with the samples and blessed it all up with their slippery signature frequency modulation swagger. Call in the mop boy for this one. Spam it, share it, love it, burn it, because thugs need love too!
Definitely worth a listen.
Remyst

It's been a while since I posted some glitch/electro music. So here you go. A free download of the Remyst Album. It contains remixes of Vincent Parker's new album Prism Myst made by a multi talented and diverse group of artists. It's free so why not give it a listen. Here are the samples.

Old Spice | The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
A splendid 30 seconds. The horse also deserves it's own fragrance line.
Short Film-Iran:A Nation of Bloggers
Found this as part of the FutureShorts program. While the sheer sight of the title might make you quickly jump to guess the political content, this short is not per se political. Done in an animated documentary style a la Waltz with Bashir it's really about how blogs enable freedom of communication otherwise denied under a dictatorship. Precise and insightful stuff.
Viva La Revolucion
Big things are happening in San Diego. A new exhibition of street, urban and contemporary art has been opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, featuring artists like Swoon,Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey,Calma, Dzine and more.

Not only did San Diego let these artists use the museum space, but the city let them use public spaces as well.

From the photos the exhibition looks like a great success. Good Job. Click here to see more.

Nobuhiko Obayashi's House DVD Release
Criterion Collection is releasing on DVD and BlueRay this cinematic acid trip of a ghost movie which has been a 'hidden' cult gem since its 1977 release. The plot: 7 schoolgirls spend a night in a haunted house encountering haunted cats, bleeding pianos and other apparitions which couldn't even be featured on a Doors album. Get a glimpse of the insane in the trailer below.

Blu - BIG BAG BIG BOOM
Blu strikes again, this time with his take on the evolution of life. It's interesting to see how he's expanding from 'mere' paint on walls to objects interacting with his pictures. Exceptional.

Have You Heard of: The Books

The Books are an New York based music duo, formed in 1999, consisting of a guitarist and vocalist Nick Zammuto and cellist Paul de Jong. Their music contains a combination of electronic music and folk (played on guitar, cello, banjo and etc.) while incorporating samples of obscure sounds and speech from cassettes found in thrift stores. It is in a way a genre of its own, you could call it collage music. An interesting this that they do not use a drumkit but rather use objects like children's toys or filling cabinets. They released a few records: Thought for Food, Lemon of Pink, Lost and Safe, Music for a French Elevator and recently they released their newest album The Way Out.
the Books - A Cold Freezin' Night from Paul de Jong / Nick Zammuto on Vimeo.
Their new album The Way Out continues the Books' tradition of meticulous, existential songcraft, infusing the playfully surreal elements of previous albums with a humorous, childlike excitement. With The Way Out, the Books have mastered the precarious balance of beauty, absurdity and accessibility. Anyways less talking and more links for downloads. That's what you guys want right?

The Freedom Charter
