So as promised Gorillaz have released their free album on Christmas. Unfortunately unless you are their fan member you cant download it but you can still stream the album if you sign up to their mailing list here. As it is Christmas I'll try and get you the download link soon.
In case you missed it, I present to you: Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. This an absolutely massive EP by the up and coming Skrillex, released under Mau5trap. Earlier in the month, 8 of his songs from his EP were in the Beatport Top 10. I thinks that's an unprecedented record. Skrillex is currently touring UK with Deadmau5.
This is some truly heavy orgy wobble stuff. Get it before the link gets copped by the cybercops.

As always, afromullets is delivering the goods; Kanye West's latest album has a November 22 release date but someone magically leaked it so here it is. Check it out.

This is by far one of the weirdest and intriguing films I've seen to date, with a comically, amazingly, grandiosely stupid story, but the one thing it does extremely well is putting street art in the spotlight. Keep in mind that it is very possible Banksy has allowed himself certain amounts of, shall we say, artistic license in the compilation of this film, but I do not mean this in any negative way. In true Banksy fashion, these 90 minutes are filled to the brim, and even overflowing, with copious barrages of irony. Nonetheless, absolutely stunning scenes of street art in process, both in studios and on the streets. The film, and of course the legendary Mr. Brainwash, really flips around the age old question of 'What is art?' and the value of art, in a way that has never been done before.
So for those of you who haven't seen 'Exit Through The Gift Shop', sit back and enjoy.

After watching the movie, you may find these reviews interesting. Spoiler alert obviously applies. Read them here and here.
"Works by 103 street artists from around the world, were mounted illegally in a long-abandoned New York City subway station this summer."
"Collectors can’t buy the art. The public can’t see it. And the only people with a chance of stumbling across it are the urban explorers who prowl the city’s hidden infrastructure or employees of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority."
"The show's curators, street artists themselves, unveiled the project for a single night, leading this reporter on a two-and-a-half hour tour. Determined to protect their secrecy, they offered the tour on condition that no details that might help identify the site be published, not even a description of the equipment they used to get in and out. And since they were (and remain) seriously concerned about the threat of prosecution, they agreed only to the use of street-artist pseudonyms."

Dubstep Is Dead

Just wanted to share this mix with you all. What caught my eye was the title of the mix as well as the description that came along with it:
"Dubstep is dead." I really could not think of a more ridiculous yet true statement to pronounce. At a time where the genre’s style is oozing into just about every facet of commercial music, it’s undeniable influence is permeating the ears of the unknowing, yet there is debate as to the future, and current state, of the most interesting and revolutionary genre in dance music since jungle. Not that long ago, the “dub” element of dubstep was prominent; echos and delays paid tribute to the old days of blowing marijuana smoke into a microphone, getting the music high and, by proxy, the listener. Enjoying the space in between sounds, the effects and vibes that dub lovers lusted were eventually found in most forms of electronic music, and the DJ/sound system culture provided the template for selectors to come. Nowadays, anything that is at or near 140 BPM and has sub bass is considered to be “dubstep” and rarely utilizes the same use of space, bass and place. Where snares and voices would echo and reverb, distorted synths stab, and heavy drums pound, leaving barely any room for the listener to think. This is, I believe, a reflection of our times. Immersed in over-stimulation from the various forms of media that used to entertain us and now imprison us, we are subjected to a barrage of frequencies that confuse and numb us. The only escape, for some of us, is music, and I believe that this is what holds us all together, as an international community and as friends, and regardless of the sounds being played, the sound will continue to grow, evolve and piss off more people that “just don’t like it” or get it. Until a few months pass, and they too, will go from hater, to supporter, to attempting to capitalize on it. This is mix is by no means the headstone on the tomb of our beloved dubstep music, but I chose the tracks that were used for very particular reasons – I want people to understand, embrace and love the different strands of music that have stemmed from dubstep, and to understand that it is simply a permutation of bass music.I agree and disagree. I can relate to the sentiments that some of the elements of what dubstep used to be is now fading away. But I also see that without any progression and developments we wouldn't have even gotten to what is now known as dubstep. I think this sentiment has been more evident in the hip-hop scene where its fans have divided into various camps representing hip-hop's multiple styles and subgenres. This is all useless at the end of the day, so just sit back, chill, and enjoy the tunes.

EaseYourMind X SLNGBNGrs
So yeah you will probably get sick of all the Blu posts I've been posting lately but I cant help it. Blu preformed the new song from the album NoYork, called EaseYourMind, in Portland. Eventhough its preformed by the band this melodic jazzy tune is produced by no other than Exile. To make this post more interesting I've just found that a new song as well has been leaked few hours ago. This one though is produced by DIBIA$E. Enjoy

No York
It's late but,I just discovered that Blu will be releasing a new album -NoYork, and BossCo.2 is one of the songs thats going to be on it. I've been waiting for this since 2007. What makes this album even better,I hope, are the producers that Blu has been working with - Exile, Flylo, Samyiam,Daedalus... If this is as good as his debut album than I'm pretty sure its going to be one of the best hip-hop albums of the year, and will be on repeat on my Itunes for a very long time.

Far From Home
So I just came across this and I think its pretty dope. Into the Woods, a Portland based video production team, asked a few artists touring through PDX to give a small live performance. The artists agreed and Into the Woods has filmed naming it Far From Home. Artists like Teebs,12th Planet and GLK are on it and the new adition to these is Daedelus performing his tracks in an Arcade.
And here is Teebs for your viewing/listening pleasure.

Labyrinth
If you're into glitch electro/dub you will like this a lot. Kraddy who was formerly a part of The Glitch Mob has released his new EP "Labyrinth". Glitch.fm has described this EP as:
"Fun, danceable music that has a deeper meaning- it’s like glitch hop for grownups. What I like best is that the EP never gets too serious about itself. Labyrinth doesn’t get all emo’d out just to convince you that it has meaning. It bangs it into your head."

Ludachrist - Talk Is Cheap

Without a doubt, this is one of the most creative and utterly irresistible mixes of the year – blends of over-commercialized hip-hop with face melting metal licks, cuts of gangster bars over 80’s synth-pop melodies, and fucking Tourette’s Guy samples. So get out your Reebok pumps, grab your favorite blade, get on the dancefloor and prepare to get messy – it’s time to sacrifice another virgin in the name of Ludachrist!
