Street Knowledge: Wannabes

Here's a short news clip on "wannabes" or "wiggers" from 1999. It's interesting to see how hip-hop's placement in the mainstream has changed so drastically since its infancy. While hip-hop is still sometimes seen as a "black" thing, race really isn't the issue that it used to be: these days, nobody bats an eyelash at white kids who identify with the subculture.

Sunday Streaming: "La Haine" (1995)

It's a pretty lazy Sunday. So there's nothing better to do than get a good movie in. We present you Matthieu Kassovitz's now legendary social drama "La Haine" that depicts the lives of three young friends living in the Banlieue's of Paris in the 1990's. This is also Vincent Cassel's big break. If you haven't seen this yet, you should definitely give it a go.

Street Knowledge: How Taking Drugs Will Influence Your Art

Bryan Lewis Saunders takes drugs to expand humanity's knowledge on drugs and its effect on the brain. More specifically on the effects on a persons creativity. In a potentially self-harming experiment, Bryan Saunders has taken a plethora of illegal substances in a controlled manner to observe how each drug affects his ability to draw a self-portrait of himself. I find this wildly disturbing and fascinating at the same time. Head over to his site to see them all while you can see some of our favourites right here:

1 sm Glass of "real" Absinth (not the fake crap)

10mg Ambien

Bath Salts

2 bottles of Cough Syrup

10mg Loritab

15mg Buspar (Snorted)

3mg Klonopin

Street Knowledge: Horsemaning

“Horsmaning,” or fake beheading, was a popular way of taking pictures in the 1920s.
It's currently experiencing a revival and is basically the new planking. Here are some modern day adaptations of this popular new/old photo trend.
Forget planking. This is the new thing. We told you first.
