EMBRYO - LUV GROOVES

Our boy Embryo, who has previously made us a mix, has finally released his debut album. Nine thumping classic house cuts that will keep you grooving into the early hours. Embryo is a champion of that old-school house vibe that transports you back in to the early days of house similar to the likes of Bicep. A very solid debut album that will be released later on this year on his WEAREUNITY label. Stay tuned.

Mirakle - "The Plan EP" (Prod. by Fshstk)

We are really excited to announce Mirakle's latest release in a while — titled "The Plan" — which is a collaborative effort with one of afromullets' own producers fshstk. While this is the Mirakle's third EP, it is the first one featuring original production.

"The Plan" is a showcase of Mirakle's lyrical prowess and knack for vivid imagery. However, what struck me the most was the honesty in his lyrics of dealing with the struggles as an up and coming rapper. The first track "Get Your Guap Up" is about the endless riches that are there for the taking: "Get money, play shows, big crib, fast cars…" However, the reality is far from this where the track starts of with a brutally honest confessions of missed chances, lethargy and the fear of failure: "you run away from everything like you a wanted man".

While these are harsh truths, the good thing for us is that it looks like Mirakle has gotten his shit together and is tackling each of his supposed insecurities track by track. "The Plan" follows a loose narrative of the trials and tribulations on the rapper's road to success. While it may start off with a bleak outlook, a few tracks down, he is bubbling with confidence and is sure that he has made the right decisions in the track "Every Day": "I used to want to be a diplomat, then I bumped 'The Diplomats' I became a different cat, what can I say / I almost spent my life on some office shit, I'm so glad I'm off that shit, now I rhyme everyday."

To avoid any other spoilers, I'll let you follow Mirakle's journey on "The Plan" yourself. As far as the production goes, fshstk serves up a range of heaters in a multiple range of styles and genres with his signature touch of the jazz piano. A real guilty pleasure treat can be found in 'Outro' which is a banging footwork re-work of the first track.

A music video for the track "Like This" has also been released on Left Boy's MADE JOUR LABEL channel.

All in all, this is a solid release and a pleasure to listen to. Mirakle will be touring and performing with Left Boy on the Permanent Party tour starting March 10th 2014.

Danny Brown - OLD

I might be biased as I am a huge Danny Brown fan, but after my first listen this album, it is already high up on my contenders for the Album of the Year honours. The album is split into two parts. Danny is more serious on the first part of the album talking about living in Detroit and the struggles he went through. On the second part, Side B, Danny is in his party mode. Side B is filled with bangers (except for the last track) that could easily make it into any party playlist. Overall, I really (really) enjoyed the album. Production is amazing, Danny is lyrically on point and all of the features did a great job as well. I highly recommend you to stream the album below and go pre-order it as it is coming out on the 8th of October. Complex did an amazing cover story on Danny that you should definitely check out. HANDS DOWN, best compilation you will hear this year. I will bet every single Pokemon card I've got in my collection that must be worth way more to this date than what I've got left in my stock portfolio. Atlantics Vol. 2 is a superbly selected compilation of the hottest tracks that you've never heard of from the most forward thinking producers making music in genres that are yet to have a formally accepted name by us all. If I were to walk in to a club tonight and all they played was this compilation from start to finish, I would have something quite close to the best night one can have musically. One more thing is that this ish for free. That's just crazy.

2012 Looks Promising

To those that check our blog from time to time I am sorry for not updating it a lot more during the holidays. During this break some of us were busy: Mirakle had two live performances over the Christmas Break, on top of that he teamed up with Left Boy to make a catchy track "Video Games"

Stewiwionda was djing b2b with Sofie at Pom de Grenade; Jakob aka Dj Philth and fshstk tried out their skills at djing on New Years. I on the other hand was too busy being lazy so I'll try to make it up to you by making a small list of some stuff I listened to in past few weeks. Clams Casino released a remastered 320kbps version of his mixtape "Instrumentals". This was one of my favorite mixtapes in 2011 so getting this in 320 meant I had this on repeat and still do. Make sure you download this you wont regret it. Then right after New Years I stumbled across Evian Christ. No one knows much about him except that he made some impressive tracks. MYD was Today's Track few days ago and if you liked it I suggest you listen to the rest of his tracks. 5 days later The Daily Street decided to get Ifan Dafydd on their mixtape series. 2012 couldn't have started any better.If you follow us on Facebook you probably heard of it, but if you haven't make sure you do: And just like that some of my favorite artists started releasing tracks: Jacques Green released "Clark" from his forthcoming EP - Concealer (Jan. 30th) Shlohmo released "wenn uu", one of the tracks that will be on his new 3 song EP - Vacation (Feb. 7th) and soon after he released a remix of "Lianne La Havas - Forget". Around a day ago two brothers that go under the name Disclosure droped their new track titled "Flow": Kidnap Kid aswell decided to show off some of his new stuff. Few hours ago he just released "Lazarus Taxon". Today, while checking out my mail I found out that Stones Throw was nice enough to give us a free download of Jonti's album Sine & Moon

STEWIWONDA: Self-Titled EP

Afromullets' own STEWIWONDA has just released his debut EP, and we're excited to be the first to spread the word.
