Mullet Mix 003: Vice City

Selective Hearing 003: Vice City
Here it is! Mullet Mix #003 is out for your partying pleasure. This time we've got our friends from Vice City laying down a serious selection of body movers including their own unreleased track Fever. I've been listening to it all day and it pretty much sums up what we would consider 'dope' in February 2013.
Vice City is a collaborative project between DJ/Producers Subcoat and Stitcha and are currently taking over dancefloors as part of the Troupe family. We think 2013 is going to be major for these guys. Support them on facebook and get treated to exclusive downloads to their latest releases.

Mishima Curse

Samename should be one of the producers on your 2013 watchlist. Mishima Curse is another great grime-instrumental track  from the Manchester based producer. Furthermore, another thing you should be watching out for is the Pelican Fly's new compilation EP Feathers. Mishima Curse will be one of the tracks in it, and so will be new tracks from Cashmere Cat and Sinjin Hawke that we featured in our Today's Tracks segment. It's out on 18th of February digitally and I highly suggest you get a copy of it.

Sunday Streaming: TPB AFK

A new feature-length documentary, The Pirate Bay Away From Keyboard, is out, focusing on the rise to popularity and subsequent legal issues of The Pirate Bay, arguably the world's biggest public torrent site, and a haven for music, film and video game piracy. Two of the three TPB founders are currently in Laos, escaping an international arrest warrant.

Of course, the documentary itself is freely available, and is a highly recommended watch.

Worst Insect Ever

This might be one of my worst nightmares. A single bite from this tick pictured above can make you allergic to red meat. That means no more bacon, no more burgers or even worse no more late night pepperoni pizzas. You can read more about this scary insect here.

Indigoism

"The first song I heard - ‘Gold Soul Theory’ - was perfect. I heard it and I didn’t even have to hear a second song. It blew me away how professional everything was, but also how forward thinking and spiritually minded these young kids were. Within the first 20 seconds I was pretty sure I was going to try to sign them. I never get that feeling.” - Flying Lotus
The Underachievers, Ak and Issa Dash, are the part of this fresh new wave of Hip-Hop that is coming out from New York. Indigoism is their first mixtape on FlyLo's label Brainfeeder. Knowing the previous releases from these two and just what FlyLo has to say about them, I am pretty sure that the mixtape wont dissapoint. So stream the mixtape below or you can go over to DatPiff for the download.

La Grande Epicerie de Paris

Mirakle - MellowDrama

Ladies and gents, this is an exciting day. Why? Because it's our pleasure to announce another musical treat from within the ranks of the Afromullets collective.

Those of you who have been following us for a while will have heard of Kareem, a.k.a. Mirakle, who for the past two years has been steadily releasing his signature rhyme-infused beats and videos on YouTube and SoundCloud. Yesterday marked the release of his second official mixtape, MellowDrama, and I think it's safe to say it's a big one.

What makes this release particularly interesting is its diversity. In MellowDrama, Mirakle branches out stylistically with instrumentals that range from Drum & Bass (with Instra:Mental's From the Start) via UK Grime (Gone in 60 Seconds) to the sprawling, pitched-down vocals in High Tide that bear a striking resemblance to the laid-back, downtempo flow of the unmistakeable MF Doom.

The mix tape's lovely 90's-inspired cover art was penned, of course, by our own prolific designer and blogger Jvst Laze.

The cherry on the cake? The bonus track, Ride Trippy, is an original musical collaboration with Afromullets resident DJ and producer Stewiwonda.

Did I mention the whole mixtape is available for free download? What are you still waiting for?
