Afromullets hosts Body Language

Some good news for those of you in Vienna: Afromullets is hosting the Body Language event at Badeschiff's freshly re-opened Laderaum this Saturday. (That's in two days!) A selection of our residents – Stewiwonda, Jvst Kin, fshstk – will be providing the sonic backdrop to the entire night from 10pm 'til late. The place was recently redecorated, and after a cursory visit this afternoon we can confidently say that it will be a great evening.

I am a sucker for chopped and screwed tracks, especially when it come to H3VTH CVR1NG's mixes. What I really enjoy about his mixes, excluding the fact that he is on top of the game with chopping and screwing, is that each mix is based on a specific theme making each of them unique. In the newest mix "KVLEIDOSCOPE DREVM" majority of the tracks heithcares chops & screws are off Miguel's r&b album "Kaleidoscope Dream" creating these dragged out dark sensual jams. The mix also contains some classic r&b tracks, a love theme from Top Gun and a Ghostface track, all of course put through xheathcaresx c&s filter. Make sure you listen to this mix and check out his earlier mixes over on his soundcloud which will take your breath away.

We've put together a fantastic line-up for a night of varied entertainment to bring you the finest vibes emanating from the deepest corners of the music scene.

Headshotboyz are a production duo out of Budapest and have been on our radar since their release of "Heartbaked EP". Their eclectic sound offers a delightful melodic experience that will take you on a trip. With a wide range of influences from hip-hop, wonky and electronica; there will be enough good vibes to immerse yourself in.


NVIE Motho, might be making beats in our backyard, but is getting international acclaim with his remix of Jeremih's "Fuck U All The Time". Some of you might have been lucky enough to experience him on his recent tour with Gerard. But if you slept on it, you're getting another chance.


We are real excited that our girl Sofie will be joining us on the night. While she may have been in LA for a year now, fam always stays fam. Her work with Stones Throw Records keeps her directly at the pulse of the music scene. Not only that, as a host of the Boiler Room shows in the US she definitely knows how to get a party started. West Coast infused party vibes brought straight to you.


While this line-up already goes pretty hard, you'll be in for a treat from opening to closing as the afromullets residents (Stewiwonda, fshstk, phil.th and Alex B) add more heat throughout your night:

Today's Track: Basedworld

In 2012 we saw the appropriation of 'Trap' music by the electronic music community. While on first listen, it was magical and ground-breaking as it always is when these things happen. But it also quickly spiralled out of control. The bastardization of 'trap' music occurred through multitudes of easily found (and easily made) bootlegs of inferior quality. Music blogs, similar to the decline of 'underground' dubstep formed two camps. Those championing the 'trap is dead' approach and those pushing it to it's limit (more gun shots, more machine guns, more, more, more). Terms like 'EDM Trap' even travelled across the atlantic from the US to make this whole craze seem all the more ridiculous.

So where do I stand on this debate? There's no denying this created movements and feelings in me last seen at the height of the dubstep era. There's also no denying that this is just the natural ebb and flow of forward-thinking, new and original music. So I leave it at that. Trap was a good thing for the clubs. There are some producers out there that make very commercial friendly trap consisting of a 'recipe' and others who remind us why we love it and how it should be done.

Ryan Hemsworth is one of those guys. With a repertoire of consistency and quality; he always seems to deliver the most on-point trap bootlegs, edits and remixes. His latest, 'Basedworld' is a testament to exactly what I mean. It is basically the trapped-out version of M83's already epic 'Moonchild' track. GAT DAMN.
