Stewiwonda at Camera Club

Two weeks ago we were hosting the second floor at Sexy Deutsch event. If you were unlucky and couldn't make it to Camera Club that Thursday, or if you just want to relive the good memories, we have something for you. Stewiwonda recorded his set from that night and has decided to put it up on his soundcloud for your listening pleasure(It's available for download as well). Special thanks to Sexy Deutsch for letting us host the floor and a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of you guys that came and supported us that Thursday. Enjoy!

Love and Affection

I came across this yesterday and since then I had it on repeat. They took the original track of soundcloud but luckily Erik Alkauskas posted it on youtube with a pretty cool video clip. While I am not a big fan of Rihanna's music this remix caught me by suprise. YUME, a NY based producer, did a great job remixing one of Rihanna's tracks of her new album. This is now currently on repeat since Monday. Enjoy/Download this great ambient/cosmic trap(?) track.

WIEN DARF NICHT CHICAGO WERDEN or DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn do Vienna

'WIEN DARF NICHT CHICAGO WERDEN' (Vienna cannot turn into Chicago) was a popular slogan by the Austrian Freedom Party's right-wing populist leader Jörg Haider that was plastered throughout Vienna in the 90's in reference to Chicago's problems dealing with inner-city poverty as a ridiculous and inappropriately placed metaphor for the city of Vienna. Now fast-forward a few years to 2012 and it looks like Vienna is slowly becoming a recurring and popular place for Juke/Footwork music producers and DJ to come to (YES!). Juke and Footwork of course having developed straight out of Chicago. Without getting too political about it, Vienna is becoming Chicago, every now and again, for one night on a given weekend. The thought of Jörg Haider spinning in his grave at the thought of this gives me quite a rush and makes me all the more happier to look forward to some of the biggest names of this genre to come play Vienna (again) this weekend.

I don't know where and how exactly it started but Vienna is into their juke apparently. Why the hell not though. It is now the second time we get to welcome DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn after a successful party hosted by Sexy Deutsch earlier this year. This time it's being hosted by e-nix gangbang for their 8th birthday and will be in the much bigger Pratersauna this SATURDAY, 24th NOVEMBER. Happy Days.

You can RSVP to the event here. They're doing a 'guest list' to knock some euros of  the entry so make sure you click attend.

Also, according to urban dictionary, Juke is a poor imitation of UK Garage. I'll let you be the judge on that one.

LemLem Talks to NVIE MOTHO

When she's not shocking her friends and subscribers, LemLem talks to DJs and producers. This time around she sat down with Nvie Motho. He is an up and coming producer straight out of the city we are repping: VIENNA. He's gotten a bit of attention on the web for his remix of Jeremih's Fuck U All The Time and is about to release his debut EP. Check out the interview and support his Facebook/Soundcloud page.

LL: Why is your name Nvie Motho?

Nvie Motho: It's an anagram for "Ohne Motiv" (German for "without motive")

LL: You could say that there has been a heavy increase of Austrian EDM producers as of late, such as the likes of Cid Rim, Dorian Concept, etc., etc., and of course yourself. Are there any other Austrian musicians (recent and old) that you would say have had an influence on your personal work?

Nvie Motho: There are so many good producers around here! And of course you get influenced by the musicians around you, although I don't think that my sound is very similar to the typical Affine Records sound, though I really like their stuff. In terms of producing, I would say LbS had a really big influence on me. When I moved to Vienna he was the first guy who I knew who had an MPC and he showed me a lot of ways to produce music. We worked a long time together and we were always exchanging beats and new ideas about producing.

LL: Are groupies getting younger or older?

Nvie Motho: The older you get, the less you pay attention to age... is their any way to answer this question in a non creepy way?

LL: What do you like most about living in Vienna?

Nvie Motho: Vienna has a very unique feeling. In musical terms, you got all this heavy classical music with its history hanging all over the place and on the other hand you have a very young and inspiring electronic scene. Besides that its just a very chilled out big city.

LL: How is your tour with Gerard going so far?

Nvie Motho: Its pretty cool so far, we played as a support for "Die Orsons" in several cities in Germany and its really big fun. The cool thing is, that the audience is listening to our new songs for the first time and you get an immediate reaction on what works and what doesn't.

LL: Your favorite/most memorable gig ever was...

Nvie Motho: Hmm... Aren't the best gigs the ones you can't remember? Haha... Well, on this tour our electronic drum pad crashed at one gig as we played our second song and then there was this loud disturbing sound... I needed like 3 minutes to find out which device broke down, but Gerald entertained the audience in this break pretty well, and some fans asked if we planned it, because we handled it so well...

LL: When did you start making music and what music did you grow up with?

Nvie Motho: I started at age 6 with the recorder, then piano with 8 and drums with 13, but I was never really into practicing until I was around 20 and decided that I want to study music. I listened to a lot of punk music and played in a punk band when I was 16 and I was sued by the CDU [Germany's Christian conservative party] because of a song I wrote. Besides that I listened to a lot of German rap when I was between 13 and 16.

LL: What's the best beverage to drink while listening to your music?

Nvie Motho: Definitely Mexikaner from the bottle... in huge amounts!

LL: I know you like to travel. If you could live in any city in the world, which one would it be and why?

Nvie Motho: Wow that's a difficult one... I'm moving to Lisbon next year for a few months...but besides that, I spent a month in Bogota and really wanna go back there... and Buenos Aires... and Rio... ahhh too many... but yeah, I really love the South American vibe.

LL: Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Nvie Motho: Yes please! I'd like that and some hot spicy duck sauce to it.

LL: Oh and how has your life changed ever since you met me?

Nvie Motho: Well, I could ask you the same, but you're definitely enhancing my Facebook experience!

Nvie Motho's debut release is scheduled for the first quarter of next year. While you are waiting for that, why not subscribe or follow LL to enhance your Facebook/Twitter experience.

Thanks LemLem ♥

Sunday Streaming: "La Haine" (1995)

It's a pretty lazy Sunday. So there's nothing better to do than get a good movie in. We present you Matthieu Kassovitz's now legendary social drama "La Haine" that depicts the lives of three young friends living in the Banlieue's of Paris in the 1990's. This is also Vincent Cassel's big break. If you haven't seen this yet, you should definitely give it a go.

Edible Street Art

Shelley Miller
Shelley Miller Shelley Miller Shelley Miller
These decorative murals were done by a Montreal based artist, Shelley Miller, and what makes them extra special is that they were made using a interesting medium: cake icing. I wonder how they look after a few days when the icing starts to drip and melt off the wall. via.

Whisky Advent Calendar

December is in less then a month and malls/supermarkets are slowly starting to advertise and sell you their products that are "necessary" for Christmas. One of those are the chocolate advent calendars. But chocolates are filled with calories so if you want a healthier option, why not get the whiskey alternative instead from Masters of Malt.
