This week sees the release of a music video for what is arguably the best song on Jimmy Edgar's most recent album, Majenta (2012, Hotflush). Edgar's penchant for trippy visuals is evident from the first frame. While the video may not be your cup of tea, the musical accompaniment is funky as hell.

Jeremiah Jae and Azizi Gibson released their mixtape Ignorant Prayers yesterday - In case you're not up to speed, these are 2 artists that are signed to Flying Lotus label Brainfeeder. I had pretty high expectations going into this mixtape, and to be honest I still need to give it a full play through, but I cant say im disappointed - Jae and Gibson managed to put together a solid 18 track hip-hop mixtape, which I can definitely agree with.

Joey BADA$$ - 1999

Here's something I've been listening to all week (as was the rest of the crew). '1999' is Joey BADA$$' debut mixtape that really took me back to what seemed like the golden era in rap music. This talented 17 year old rapper is real decent on the mic and has a knack for choosing dope beats to rap over: J Dilla (RIP), DOOM and Statik Selektah to name a few. While obviously very reminiscent of Stones Throw rap music from the turn of the new millennia (due to the selection of beats), he just makes it sound like he was there in a way that my mastery of the English language will fail to explain in coherent words. Remember this kid is 17. He was 11 when we lost Dilla. I therefore, urge you to give it a listen and see if you agree with me.

Vanity - Early Morning

Lately we've been getting a lot of tracks to our inbox. Every once in a while we get something that stands out from the rest. This time Vanity, an 18 year old from Leicester, caught my attention with his 'Early Mornings' track. This ambient,chilled out 2-step/Garage track has been playing on repeat all day. I would really like to have this track on my iTunes so I suggest you go over to his facebook page and give it a like as he will be giving it away when he reaches 500 likes.

I was genuinely excited once I heard that Kitty Pryde dropped her debut EP on her bandcamp. I've blogged about this Daytona Beach girl when she dropped a video for her single Okay Cupid,which is on the EP. The production on these 5 tracks comes from 3 great producers: Beautiful Lou,GRANT and SELA who all did an amazing job, and as I said before she just sounds so good on the beats. I suggest you give it a listen.

Mambo in Paris

In 1929, Johnny Weissmuller inaugurated the Molitor swimming pool in Paris. This wonderfull art deco building is planned to be destroyed in 2012.This giant collage is a giant tribute to the olympic champ aswell as a bridge between this golden era and today.
