Check this video out. Best music video of the year? Could be. Seriously though... Having Agyness Deyn in it is not ruining things either.
We all know about the problems that Japan had these past weeks. The Morning Benders have decided to make a small EP to support Japan. All the money from this EP goes straight to the Japan Society’sEarthquake Relief Fund. I bought it and I think you guys should aswell. Here is the link. Do it.
A nice little chat with artist Mike Giant who gets pretty deep about life and his work.
Hate to use the word epic. But it is. Seriously though... check the 2:43 mark.
New music video by Action Bronson of his single 'Barry Horowitz' off his album 'Dr. Lecter'.
I think the best thing about this rapper is that he has a sick cooking show on youtube. Bon appetit!
The chances of catching me listening to RnB are very low. The only RnB I have listened to lately was Frank Ocean's - Nostalgia, which I wasn't a huge fan of. Recently I've come across The Weeknd, and since then I must say I've played their tracks on repeat quite a few times. The best part is that they have released a new mixtape few days ago, which means I dont have to be on YouTube anymore to listen to their music. If you want to give RnB a try, or if you like RnB in general, I suggest you get this mixtape from their website by clicking on the photo above.
We here at afromullets are not ones to talk very much and barely have much to add to our posts as we are most probably suffering on some mild form of ADD.
In less then a week this mixtape has managed to reach my top played list in Itunes. If you spend a lot of time on Youtube like I do, you would have probably ran across his channel a few times. So after about 3 years of putting his music/videos on youtube he finally managed to do what many artists dream off. He got signed to Def Jam. And what better way to celebrate it then to give out a free mixtape to his fans. I am a week late on posting this but that is mostly as I was way too busy listening to it. So if this is still not in your Itunes then I suggest you go here and get it, if you like Hip-Hop you wont be disappointed. Enjoy
...no big deal. BIG DEAL.
and a fairly interesting interview snippet:
Ok. So this shows that mind control is now actually possible. Jedi Mind Tricks will be in full effect by July this year. After watching 0:40, please also observe his obstacle changing abilities.

Tyler is a big fan of Toro y Moi, and it looks like Chaz thinks Oddfuture is swag as well. So there was a small collab and a remix was made. I hope there will be more collabs between these two.

Japan Echo

“Last week we were scheduled to go to Tokyo to play our first show ever in Japan. It was going to be a very special trip for us, and for me in particular. I had always dreamt of going back to Japan to play music. Not many people know this, but I was actually born in Japan, and although I only lived there for a couple of years, I’ve always had a deep love for the country and its people. I cannot express how sad and helpless I’ve felt reading about everything that is happening there right now, and even though we couldn’t be there, we wanted to do everything we could to help. We love you Japan.”

Revolutions Per Minute

I do hope you can take a few minutes out of your time and read this post. I have just gotten word of a very interesting film project currently in the making that might be of interest to you. The film is called 'Revolutions Per Minute' and tells the story of an upcoming rapper and his journey of finding his voice in the midst of the explosion of hip-hop in the 1990's and being thrown into unfamiliar world as he finds himself in streets of Paris.
Among those involved in the project is a young director, Tim Gregory out of Vienna, Austria who has recently completed his first feature film "Political Animals". He is also known for an award-winning short film called "The Strange Case of Salman abd al Haqq" which is one of the first to ever deal with the subject of CIA-sponsored torture. Tim has teamed up with the New York producer John Reefer whose most recent project "Kinyarwanda" was awarded the Audience Choice Award at the most recent Sundance Film Festival. Additionally I would like to add that the film was written by Tim himself alongside Mzwandile Sibanda (also out of Vienna), and is also going to be directing and editing the movie himself. This film project proves to be very promising through an interesting plot backed by a very talented director-producer team.
Aside from the riveting plot in itself, this project has the potential for a great soundtrack. There is just so much amazing music I can think of when trying to visualize the burgeoning hip-hop scene in the 90's.
I hope you stay tuned as we keep you posted with more details as this project gets under way. Maybe I'll be able to share all the familiar names out of the hip-hop world that are looking to get involved in this project (acting and producing) in my next update...

In other news, Spike Jonze did something as well with some band called The Arcade Fire. That's COOL too.

Asaf Borger likes it a little softer
In the light of tomorrow, where im gonna be ripped to pieces in a mosh pit by angry men, annnnd... men. hosted by no other than Mr. Asaf Borger, id like to share Borgore ruined dubstep- vol 2:
-Oliver(grime syndicate): What kind of music do you listen to yourself?
-Borgore: "At the moment its really hard to choose one but on the American side its probably Lady Gaga. I get a lot of people hating on me because loving mainstream is not ‘cool’ but she’s not your typical cookie-cutter popstar and I can certainly appreciate that."
and i thought he'd come with the crazziest Heavy Matal bands.
Music brings people together, "Joyland" brings nerds together.
"Joyland" is what they call the rendezvous spot for all Warcraft and Starcraft gamers. Where boys and girls of all ages can raid Azeroth, rant about Blizzard, disagree about nerfs and buffs, do everything they do with a passion, just in RL.

And considering that 12 million people play WoW and theres at least 1.5 million people playing in the Battlenet at any point in time, its a pretty good concept ($KACHING$).

Soundtrack To My March

I've been mostly listening to Oddfuture and Mirakle during February, but toward the end of the month and the beginning of March, the typical "Sountrack to My" music(if you can call it that) started playing in my Itunes. It is pretty early in March but I'm pretty sure few of these songs will be on repeat quite a lot this month. Expect stuff from James Blake, Jamie xx and few new artists I've been listening to such as Koreless. Enjoy.
Special thanks to my cousin for letting me use her photo for the cover.
